Dads
Dad’s Prayer for May 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord, Your Word says that weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. The night was real. So was the morning. I have been in a long night with grief that is not a big crisis. It is just a low ache I have learned to live with. Joy in the morning is a promise I only half-believe right now. Help me hold it without rushing it. Sometimes the morning takes longer than one night to arrive. I will not fake morning before it comes. I will also not pretend it is never coming. Hold me in the gap. Send small signs of hope while I wait. In time, bring a full sunrise. Until then, give me the patience of a man who knows that night does not get the last word. Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
