Dads
Dad’s Prayer for May 7th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in Matthew 12:15, great crowds followed Jesus, and He healed them all. Not just some. Not just the ones who passed a test. Lately, I have been ranking who deserves my mercy. That is not how Your grace works. You healed without keeping score. I want to stop doing that, too. Today, when someone who irritates me asks for something, help me not check if they have earned it. Help me give the small kindness I am asked for without making them pass a test. Let me show mercy the way You do, freely and without an audit. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
