Dads
Dad’s Prayer for May 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, "I will be their God, and they shall be my people." 2 Corinthians 6:16. Father, that one sentence holds the whole story of what You are doing. Write me into it today. Not as the main character. Just as one of Your people. You already are my God. I already belong to You. The proof is the breath I just took. Let me live from that promise instead of trying to earn it. Give me patience at work because this is settled. Give me kindness at home because Your love does not rise and fall with how my kids act. Give me honesty with myself because I do not have to pretend to stay in Your care. You named me as Yours. Help me live like it. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
