Dad’s Prayer for May 3rd

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, You told us we would have trouble in this world. You also said You have overcome it. Hold both of those in my head today. Trouble is real. So is Your win. When the hard things come — the email I do not want to answer, the fight at school, the bill that is too high — help me remember the second half of that verse without forgetting the first. Both are true at the same time. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
