Dads
Dad’s Prayer for May 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I realize I've been skimming. I know the big truths about Jesus, but I've stopped noticing the small things. The way He stopped to talk to the woman at the well. The way He called up to Zacchaeus in the tree. The way He cooked breakfast for His friends after He rose again. Those moments are not extras. They show me who You really are. Help me slow down today. Help me pay attention to Jesus in the details, not just the headlines. I want to know You up close, not just from a distance. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
