Dad’s Prayer for April 27th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says, "Our God will bless us." Our God. Mine. Not just the God of the people I admire. Not just the God I read about. You are the One right here with me.

I have been treating You like You belong to someone else. Like You are closer to the people who seem to have it all together. But You are my God. I belong to You. My kids belong to You. My wife belongs to You.

Bless us today. Not with something big or flashy. Bless us with the strength to do the small things in front of us. Bless us with each other. Bless us with enough health to get the work done.

None of this is promised. All of it is a gift. Help me receive it that way today.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
