Dad’s Prayer for April 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Nehemiah 9:38 says that Your people made a sure covenant after looking honestly at how they had failed. I want to do the same.

This week I have drifted. I have not kept some promises. I have not loved some people the way I should. But I do not want to collapse under that. I want to come back to the covenant I am already in.

I belong to You. Your terms have not changed. You are faithful even when I am not. And You still ask me to bring what I can.

Help me bring it today. One faithful hour at work. One faithful conversation at dinner. Five honest minutes with You before bed.

The covenant continues because You do.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
