Dads
Dad’s Prayer for April 15th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You cried out, "My God, my God, why have You left me?" You were truly left alone so that I never have to be. You went through the worst loneliness, the deepest cut off from God, so I would not have to face it. Even on the nights when I do not feel You, even when my prayers feel empty, Your promise still holds. You already went where I will never have to go. Help me stop making my hard days bigger than they are. I have felt unseen. But I have not been left behind. There is a difference. The cross proves the difference. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
