Dad's Prayer for April 14th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, people walked past Jesus when He was on the cross. They laughed. They shook their heads. I know I do the same thing. I get distracted. I go through the day like His death is old news and has nothing to do with my Wednesday. Forgive me for walking past. Bring me back to the cross with clear eyes. No show. Just truth. Help me see that He stayed on the cross while they mocked Him. He stays with me even when I am just scrolling on my phone. Your love does not quit. It keeps going even when I am not paying attention. Let that love be the thing I see today. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
