Dad’s Prayer for April 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus said that if the world treated the innocent One this way, we should not be surprised when life is unfair. I am not naive about evil. I read the news. I see it close up, too. The courts that get it wrong. The man who uses his money to escape what he did. The friend I love was hurt by people who should have protected her. Your Word does not promise the world will be fair. It promises that You entered the unfairness with us. That is what I am asking for today. Not a fixed world. But endurance that looks like Jesus in the world that is.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
