Dad’s Prayer for April 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You made Jesus take our sin even though He never sinned, so that we could be made right with You. That trade is so generous it is hard to believe, even after years of believing it. I keep slipping back into trying to earn what You have already given. Let me work today, out of being made righteous instead of trying to be righteous enough. One way makes me tired. The other makes me glad. I want the glad way. Let the good news hit me again this morning, not as something new, but as the relief it really is.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
