Dads
Dad’s Prayer for April 3rd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, in John 19:16, they took Jesus and led Him away. He let Himself be led. I am not used to that. I want to lead. But today, show me where I am supposed to follow. In my marriage, when my wife sees something I miss. At work, when a coworker has a better idea than mine. At church, when the call to serve does not match what I would choose. Let me follow without complaint in the places where leadership is not mine. Jesus let Himself be led to the cross. I can let myself be led through the small things You put in front of me this week. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
