Dads
Dad’s Prayer for April 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, when people accuse You, You stay silent. I am not You. I can’t always be silent, and I shouldn’t be. But that silence still gets to me. I answer most criticism with five sentences when one would do. Sometimes, none would do. Teach me when to stay quiet. When my words would only make things worse. When my name doesn’t need defending. When the right answer is the long silence of a man who knows whose he is, help me know which moment is which. I am still learning the wisdom of keeping my mouth shut. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
