Dads
Dad’s Prayer for March 31st
When you have a wound that you are nursing, turn to this prayer.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You say in Isaiah 53:5 that by His wounds we are healed. Healed by wounds. That still surprises me. The healing I am still receiving — over old shame, over the way my own father's anger shaped me, over a friendship I am still grieving — comes from His wounds, not from my own effort. Take the credit away from self-help and put it where it belongs: in You. I am not healing myself. I am being healed by a wounded Savior. Let that humble me today. Let it give me hope today. The hardest places in me are not beyond the reach of Jesus' wounds. The work is slow, it is real, and may I face it with strength today. In Jesus name, Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
