Dads
Dad’s Prayer for March 21st
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You told Your friends they would all leave You alone. You saw it coming, and You still loved them. I am not made of the same stuff. When my people fail me — when a friend drops out at the worst moment, when a coworker switches sides to protect themselves — I take it personally and think about it for weeks. Help me hold disappointment the way You did. You loved them all the way through their fear. Let me love a few of mine through theirs. Not by pretending it did not hurt. By refusing to let it harden me. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
John 16:32
