Dads
Dad’s Prayer for March 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord,
Paul said Abraham was strong in faith. Abraham had many years of doubt first. He still hung on to You.
I do not want the loud kind of faith. I want the kind that lasts. The kind that gets up tomorrow and tries again. The kind that keeps praying for someone who has not changed in five years. The kind that shows up at church even when it does not feel like much.
Train me slowly into that strength. Make it so that twenty years from now, my kids can say, "He just kept believing. He did not make a show of it."
That is the kind of faith I want.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
