Dad’s Prayer for March 14th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Your Word says that when I feel most sure of myself, that is when I need to watch out most. Right now, life feels steady. My marriage is okay. Work is on track. Church is steady. Nothing is falling apart. But that is exactly when men like me fall. Not in the storm. In the calm. So show me where I am getting careless. Is it a conversation that is too friendly? Is it one more drink than I planned? Is it pride hiding under the way I see myself? Bring it out now, before it becomes something I cannot fix. I would rather feel embarrassed today than be ruined down the road. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
