Dad’s Prayer for March 13th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in 2 Kings 7:3, four lepers asked, "Why sit we here until we die?" They were starving outside the gate. Staying put was just as costly as moving. So they got up and moved. Father, I have places in my life where I have been sitting still too long. Things I keep putting off. Words I have not said. Habits I keep planning to change. Help me up. Not heroically. Just enough to take one step toward what You want instead of dying in my own rut. You go with me. Today, one step. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
