Dads
Dad’s Prayer for March 10th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord, I have started to act like the good things in my life are guaranteed. The mortgage is manageable. The car is running. The kids are healthy. I move through my days like those things came with the house. They did not. You give them. You could take them away. Either way, You are still You. Help me hold these gifts with open hands. Let me enjoy them without needing them to feel okay. Tomorrow could change everything. I want to loosen my grip before that day comes. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
