Dad’s Prayer for March 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, Paul said we must go through hard times to enter Your kingdom. He did not soften it. He said must. I have been acting like suffering is a mistake. It is not. It is the way. Help me stop being shocked by it. The stress at work, the hard season with my teen, and the money worries. These are not breaks in the Christian life. They are part of how You open me up to receive what You have for me. Let me carry today's troubles without giving up and without pretending. They are doing something I cannot do for myself. I will not pretend to like them. I will trust that they are not random. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
