Dad’s Prayer for March 4th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You told Paul, 'My grace is sufficient for You.' Paul asked three times to have his struggle taken away, and that was Your answer. I have my own struggle, too. The back pain that will not quit. The same fight in my marriage, I keep having. The money stress that never lets up. I am not asking You to take it all away today, though I would be glad if You did. I am asking You to let Your grace be enough. Not big. Not heroic. Just enough. Enough to get through the meeting. Enough to be kind at dinner. Enough to sleep tonight. That is what I need right now.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
    2 Corinthians 12:9
