Dads
Dads Prayer for February 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Jonah finally said it from inside the fish: "Salvation is of the Lord," Jonah 2:9. It took the worst moment of his life for that truth to come out clean. I am not in a fish, but I have my own tight places this week. The project that is squeezing me. The argument I cannot fix by trying harder. The doubt that holds me at 2 a.m. Let salvation be from You, not from me. I have been working my way out of these things on my own, and it has only made the stress worse. Take over the part that is not mine to carry. Give me back only the part that is. And teach me, even in hard places, to say what Jonah said and mean it. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
