Dads
Dad's Prayer for February 19th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord, You said Your people would still ask You to do what You have promised. The promise was already there. But the asking still matters. I have been using Your plan as an excuse not to pray. As if my asking changes nothing. But Your Word says otherwise. So I am asking now. Specifically. For the anxious daughter. For the project that is stuck. For the friend whose marriage is wobbling. My asking is part of how You bring about what You have already decided to do. Do not let me hide behind big words instead of real prayer. Put names on my lips this week. Real names. Specific names. And keep me praying. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
