Dads
Dad’s Prayer for February 7th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your word says, "Arise, and depart." I read that, and I know I have made staying too safe. I do not change the thing I should change. The work that wears me down. The habit I keep going back to. The late-night scrolling. The half-truth I tell at work. The complaint I say so much it feels like who I am. Lord, I am not asking to leave my marriage. I am not asking to walk away from the people who count on me. I am asking You to show me the corners where comfort has turned into sin. Give me the courage to rise. But more than that, God, do the changing in me that I cannot do on my own. Help me leave those things behind. Let me walk into tomorrow a little lighter, because You carried the weight I could not. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
