Dads
Dad's Prayer for February 6th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Ephesians 6:18 says to pray always. I have been praying on and off and then feeling guilty about it. But always is not a guilt trip. It is Your invitation to remember that You are not far away when I am not on my knees. Change the way I think. Let the small thoughts of my day turn toward You. The slow driver in front of me — let that become a quick prayer for him. Good news from a friend — let that become thanks to You. A worried thought about money — let that become trust in You. I do not want my life split into religious and non-religious. I want all of it open to You. By the end of today, let prayer be the thread my whole day is woven on, not just ten quiet minutes in the morning. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
