Dads
Dad's Prayer for February 1st
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father,
February is here, and my gym membership is still going, but I have not gone. There is a low hum of disappointment under my days. I am not where I want to be.
But Your ways are still right, even when I am thirty days behind on the promises I made to You and to myself. Your name is still worth speaking out loud, even when my life does not show it well.
Bring me back to Your road slowly. Tonight, give me one honest step. By Sunday, let me take two. I am not trying to force joy or singing. I just want to be back on the road that is good, because You are good.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
