Dads
Dad's Prayer for January 29th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Paul wrote that what we cannot see is what lasts forever. Help me believe that today. My screen is loud and urgent, but most of it will be forgotten. Give me eyes to see what matters most. The look my kid gives me at breakfast — that is eternal. The unread emails — not so much. An honest word to my wife tonight — that is eternal. A small win at work — that will fade. Calibrate me, Lord. I keep giving my best attention to the loudest thing. By bedtime, let me have spent the best of myself on what will outlast this day.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
