Dads
Dad's Prayer for January 26th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You know about the bills and the long-range numbers that keep me up at night. Jesus pointed at the birds and said You feed them. I saw a finch on the gutter this morning, calm in the cold, and it reminded me: You provide. Help me work hard and plan well, but do not let me carry the weight like I am the only one holding this family up. I am the one they see. But You are the real Provider. Let that truth sink in before I open the bank app today. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?
Matthew 6:26
