Dads
Dad’s Prayer for January 23rd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says You chose someone from the people and lifted him up. He was not the one everyone expected. He worked with his hands. People overlooked him. That hits me, because I care too much about who gets noticed and who gets passed over. I size people up. I want the seat that gets respect. Remind me today that You do not rank the way I do. Let me serve right where I am, even if nobody sees it. The quiet work I do today, You see. The praise I want today, You can hold back without taking away anything I truly need. Teach me to want what You actually give. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
