Dads
Dad’s Prayer for January 22nd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says a vine is only good if it bears fruit. That verse corners me. I am not special on my own. If I am not bearing fruit, I am just taking up space. That is not a despairing prayer. It is a sober one. Make me fruitful in the few ways I can be — at work, at the dinner table, in the friendship I keep neglecting. I do not need to be the showpiece tree. I need to be the kind that actually does the small thing it was planted to do. Today, please, let me bear one piece of fruit a person can taste.
Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
