Dads
Dad’s Prayer for January 20th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Heavenly Father,
You know I want to just keep showing up. To the desk. To the school drop-off. To the hard talk with my brother. Help me do my work today as something I give to You, not just something I get through. Make my labor small and pleasing. Make my offering — the time, the patience, the honest effort — something I really give, not just spend. If Abel could do it without an audience, so can I.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
