Prayer for young adults

Anchors: Genesis 21:6

Father,

Sarah laughed when she heard she would have a baby. At first she laughed because it seemed too impossible to be true. But later, when baby Isaac was in her arms, she laughed for a different reason. She laughed because You did what You said You would do. Her laugh was full and real, and it made other people want to laugh with her.

I know what the first kind of laugh feels like. I laugh at bad news. I laugh at lies. I scroll through my phone and let out a tired snort at how broken things are. That kind of laugh does not invite anyone in. It just says, I saw the problem.

But I want the second kind of laugh again. The kind that comes when I notice the good things You have done. The friend who came back. The stranger who was kind for no reason. The fact that I woke up this morning and got through the day. The small mercies I walk right past.

You did not give up on Sarah, and You have not given up on me. So today, bring real laughter back. Not the tired, cynical kind. The kind that comes from seeing Your goodness. Let it surprise me. Let it be so real that it spills over to someone else.

Amen.
