Parable
Prayer from the Parable of the Unclean Spirit Returning
Anchors: Matthew 12:44
Lord Jesus, an empty house is not a safe house. You told the story in Matthew 12:44 of a place swept clean but left empty, and that is the bad news, not the good news. The eviction was real, but nothing took the place of what was removed. So the spirit came back with seven others worse than before. Lord, You do not just remove what was wrong. You fill what was emptied. Save me from cleaning up my life only to leave a vacancy. I have given up things and gone back to them in worse forms because nothing took the place of what I gave up. Be the new tenant. The room where lust used to live needs Your presence, not just its absence. The room where resentment lived needs You in it, doing Your work, not just standing in the doorway. Fill the house. Occupy what You have cleansed. Amen.
