Prayer for grandmothers
Anchors: 2 Samuel 23:1
Father, David was called the sweet psalmist of Israel. He was a king and a warrior and a man who failed. But what lasted was the singing. Lord, what will last from my life? I am not famous. There will be no Bible verse about me. There will be the children, the grandchildren, and a few friends who knew me well. What will they say when I am gone? Let it be small and true. Let them say she loved the Lord. Let them say she prayed for us. Let them say she kept the door open when we needed it. That is enough. I do not need to be a David. Let me be a quiet psalmist for the people You gave me. The one who sang small songs over the bassinets. The one who sang over the funerals. The one who sang over the kitchen table. Make my song honest for the days I have left. Keep me singing for the ones You love. Amen.
