Prayer for dads

Father, You said in Jeremiah 3:14 that You are married to Your people. I am a married man, so I know the difference between a contract and a covenant. A contract You can walk away from when it stops working out. A covenant You stay in even when the road is hard and the future is unclear.

Let that change how I see You. You did not enter this relationship to use me. You entered it to keep me. When my faith goes thin, You do not look for the door. You stay. You keep loving Your people, the ones You chose.

Let that truth shape my own marriage tonight. Give me that kind of backbone. Not love that depends on a good week, but love that says I am here this week even when it is hard.

Lord Jesus, You are not ashamed of Your people. Teach me not to be ashamed of the life You gave me. Make me a man who is kept by You and who keeps his promises at home.
